Senior Network Engineer Level III

 

 

Piper Technology, a leading and fast-growing IT Outsourcing and Solutions Provider for small to mid-size businesses, seeks a Senior Network Engineer with 5 to 10 years experience. The position's primary responsibilities include the design, implementation and maintenance of LAN/WAN environments with emphasis on server-based environments with 10-500 users. The Senior Network Engineer must be able to utilize and manage other network engineers during the implementation and maintenance phase of such projects. The Senior Network Engineer will be hands-on during the appropriate phases of these projects, but will be expected to utilize company and third-party resources during the implementation phase and will be responsible for keeping these projects within budget and schedule constraints.

Network Engineers will be working in a fast paced, demanding, and results oriented work environment.   Engineers will be working in a collaborative team environment and will also have the opportunity to work in many different client technical environments and must be able to work on a rotation that includes on-call 24x7 support.

Technical Requirements Include

Server Operating Systems
Required: Windows 2003 Server
Preferred: Windows 2008 & 2000 Server, Windows NT, Linux, UNIX, Novell

Email Systems
Required: Exchange 2003, Exchange 2007, ActiveSync, Blackberry Enterprise Server, OWA.
Additional: Multiple Exchange Server Organization Experience, Sendmail/Postfix, Multiple domain and email hosting configuration.

Desktop Operating Systems
Required: Windows XP, Windows Vista
Preferred: Windows 2000, Windows 7, Linux, Mac OS

 

Network and Infrastructure

Required: Cisco Switch Configuration, VLANs, Cisco Router Configuration of T1, MetroEthernet and MPLS and other WAN technologies.


 

Security and Remote Access

Required: Cisco Pix and ASA Configuration, Client-based VPN, Point-To-Point VPN,

Preferred: Watchguard, SonicWall, other firewall configuration.

Troubleshooting and Configuration Skills

  • Ability to perform advanced network, WAN AND LAN design.
  • Ability to perform advanced network design and administration, including group policies and Active Directory.
  • Ability to design, configure and troubleshoot TCP/IP and related network protocols.
  • Deep and broad understanding of firewalls, VPNs, routers, switches and other LAN/WAN and security infrastructure.

  • Solid experience in the design and implementation of solutions involving Terminal Services & Citrix/Xenapp.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery Solutions.

General Skills

  • Ability to manage, direct, supervise, support and mentor lower level network engineers.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and follows through to ensure complete resolution.
  • Desire to take a personal interest in, and responsibility for, quality of work performed.
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail.
  • Ability to deal effectively with stressful situations.
  • Ability to provide accurate time estimates and be held accountable for those estimates.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced,  team-oriented environment.

Education

  • Some College Coursework completed or Equivalent College Credit courses in Technical or Vocational School.

Certifications
Required:  CCNA or MCSE. AA or BS Degree can be substituted for these.

Preferred: Specialized Microsoft, Cisco, Linux, Citrix or other leading certifications.
